Junior Rural Development Advisor

Support of non-majority communities in rural development and agriculture

The overall purpose of the post

The Project “Training for the Labor Market (Fit for Jobs)” is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development to support the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation as well as the Ministry of Finance, labor and Transfers in ongoing reforms.

The project furthermore collaborates with the Ministry of Communities and Returnees to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth by focusing on marginalized and vulnerable groups. It aims at job creation for non-majority community members by strengthening rural development in the agriculture and tourism sector.

The Junior Advisor will be in supporting the project in the component working on job creation and supporting small businesses in the agriculture and rural development sector.

Main tasks and responsibilities

The Junior Advisor performs the following:

  • Steering and supervising NGOs and consultants in implementing projects on agriculture and rural development
  • Supporting the partner institution on developing a PR strategy
  • Actively contributing to the overall and annual planning of project activities relating to agriculture, rural development and tourism
  • Ensuring a harmonized presence of GIZ and the project towards the partners
  • Ensuring compliance with GIZ rules and regulations
  • Supports the organizing and implementing capacity development measures for partners
  • Carrying out specific tasks in connection with knowledge management for the project
  • Supporting external and GIZ internal communication
  • Performing other duties and tasks as requested.

Required qualifications, competencies, and experience

Qualification

  • University degree in agriculture or economics, or a related field.

Professional experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in the area of project management, preferably with international organizations or through equivalent academic engagement
  • First experience in the area of agriculture, rural development and economics is an advantage
  • First experience in communication/outreach and monitoring is an advantage.

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Very good knowledge of English, knowledge of Serbian is an asset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Very good knowledge about social media channels
  • Skills in graphic design
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • High sensibilization about working with non-majority groups
  • Integrity, flexibility, pro-activity and motivation are important traits for all positions in the project
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office.
