Coordinator – Migration and Development


Main tasks and responsibilities


The coordinator is responsible for:


  • Technical supervision of the component of return and reintegration and contributes to the overall project goals
  • Coordinating project components of return and reintegration, CSO component and employment promotion in agreement with the superior
  • Coordinating project initiatives to provide professional advisory services and cooperates with a broad range of target groups
  • Organizing the general project planning and developing project concepts including preparation, organization and moderation of planning exercises and their implementation, management, monitoring, quality management, evaluation, communication and documentation
  • Monitoring the development and implementation of Programme for Migration and Development plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts
  • Contributing in preparation and implementation of joint project activities and work at the local/national and regional level
  • Dealing with the design, preparation and implementation of workshops, seminars and other events on issues connected with the project area of activity
  • Developing and organizing quality assurance measures and suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives
  • Supporting the process of strategic programme development of Programme for Migration and Development including the management of interfaces (Schnittstellen) to other programmes
  • Coordinating to relevant project activities at local/national and regional level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the partners, both as regards implementation and preparing organisational aspects
  • Compiling the relevant information for joint activities and assignments
  • Assisting the management in handling order management on behalf of GIZ (e.g. offer preparation, impact monitoring, project progress review, reporting)
  • Close cooperation with PMD coordinator in identifying and aligning synergies in target groups and services (where applicable)
  • Strategic orientation of project activities
  • Cooperating and exchanging with GIZ portfolio in Kosovo


Communication and networking

The coordinatorperforms the following:

  • Supports cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners, assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, NGOs and individuals in the project/programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships
  • Communicates local interests and efforts, forwards these and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the project


Other duties/additional tasks

The coordinator

  • Ensures knowledge transfer to project information
  • Develops ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures
  • Draws up reports and presentation documents
  • Prepares appropriate input for various project reports including annual reports, and contributes to the other reports required by the head of Migration Advisory Centre and GIZ Head Office and GIZ HQ
  • Assists with research activities and studies on political issues which benefit joint programmes.


Required qualifications, competences and experience


  • Masters in an area that is related to the project/programme objectives, with a focus on a relevant field


Professional experience

  • At least five years’ professional experience in a comparable position
  • Work experience in the field of migration, reintegration, employment promotion
  • Working experience in the national and international development sector organisations
  • GIZ experience is an asset


Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English language, knowledge of German language is an added value
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
